It's a Mickey Mouse Nolan Clubhouse!

We celebrated Nolan's 1st Birthday this weekend !!! Despite the yucky weather and 30+ of us crammed indoors, I think the party was a success!!! Nick & I feel so blessed that so many of our friends and family drove from out of town to come to his Birthday Celebration! I can not thank everyone enough for their time & generosity!!!

The Birthday Boy was a little crabby & I think a bit overwhelmed at first. After a quick nap (mid party) he was in better spirits! He didn't seem too interested in his cake, again I think he was a bit timid from such a large crowd! Once the room cleared out a little bit, he was NOT shy about enjoying his cupcake. He ate the entire thing!!! Talk about a sugar high......He was full throttle past 9:30pm!!!! He was "literally" bouncing off the walls couch cushions with his buddy Trevor!

Nolan received some awesome gifts! Everything from bath toys, clothes, and books, to a Mickey Mouse Ball Pit, 1st bicycle and very own mini rocking chair! Since the weather was beautiful yesterday, he spent the better half of the afternoon outside with his bike and wagon. We ended the evening on the front porch... Everyone in their own Rocking Chair : )

Red Sippy Cup

No more bottle for Nolan! I can't help but feel conflicted.... I am happy we're finally done with the bottle......the cleaning, the sanitizing, expensive  soy formula, etc., BUT I can't help but be sad !!! My baby is not much of a baby anymore : (

He is however doing great on whole milk. And using the sippy cup like a pro (FINALLY!!!) We had to buy 5 different brands/types before we found one that he is comfortable with.

Instead of Red Solo Cup, we have a Nolan Version (which he thinks is pretty hysterical):

I have noticed since the bottle is gone, Nolan now eats like a MAN !!!! He had a WHOLE grilled cheese, green beans, and yogurt for dinner the other night ! He is barely 20lbs soaking wet so I am just amazed to see how much he can eat! MaeMae says good thing he is always on the go or else he'd be the size of pony !!! I think he is going to big like his Daddy : )

Flu Times Three

Nolan is officially One Year and One Week Old! Unfortunately we did not do much celebrating. Well unless you call a bottle of Pedialyte & Cartoons a celebration. Nick, Nolan & I ALL had the flu. The BAD, BAD stomach flu !!!! I guess this is one Birthday we will always remember !!!!!

However, I am glad to report that everyone is feeling great. Nick & I, back to work and Nolan at MaeMae's. We rescheduled his Big Mickey Mouse Birthday Bash 2 weeks out. The weather forecast is showing sunny & 70's... Keeping my fingers crossed it stays nice : )

Happy 1st Birthday !!!!

I can NOT even believe you are ONE today !!!!  I remember that night a year ago so vividly, when you came knocking at the door 5 weeks early. I guess you were ready to step into this world and move ahead, as you do so powerfully since that day. You have taught me so much this past year - love, patience, tolerance, & compassion. You have enriched our lives little one !!! We love you so much !!!

Extra Wide

April already ?! Hard to believe that in 10 short days little Nolan will not be so little anymore : (  He took his first steps this past week. 3 quick ones followed by a big tumble ! He is just a busy body and much too busy to focus on this walking thing.......Who knows, maybe he is saving it for his First Birthday like his momma : )

So since this walking thing is right around the corner, we decided it was time for a good pair of shoes. Off to Stride Rite. The sz 4 he measured, was not measuring out, so we bumped him to a 4 wide. With no luck, the sales associate said he needed an EXTRA WIDE. This made me giggle because Nick & I both have such narrow feet. Luckily we found a good fit in the 4.5 reg wides. Let's hope these puppy feet start growing in length and not in width!!!

In other exciting news, Nolan learned he will have a lifelong pal - My best friend from grade school is having a Baby Boy!!! Check out the sheer joy & excitment:
