NYE 2013

Merry Christmas!

(A Christmas Post from Daddy!)

Christmas in the Gallagher Household is our favorite time of year! Our family just celebrated our 2nd Christmas with our son. He was truly the greatest gift of the holiday for his Mom and I. Experiencing this time of year through a child's eyes gives it a different meaning.

He was not quite sure of everything that was happening. The month leading up to Christmas began with us telling Nolan that the tree was "Hot" so he would not rip all the bulbs off the tree. I would still catch him staring at it in wonder from time to time.

Santa brought him a "Choo Choo," a Home Depot work bench, a mini car for him to drive around the house (which he crashed into the Christmas tree the other day,) and too many other things to count. Noli was a good boy this year.

Michelle and I look at each other each and every day and say we cannot believe how lucky we are. Nolan is the best son we could ever ask for. We cannot wait until next year when we will get to experience the holiday again...through Noli's eyes.

Breakfast with Santa!

Saturday we got to have Breakfast with Santa at BRAVO! It started off great! Nolan & Santa were best Buddies....

Then came time to sit on the Big Guy's Lap......

HA - Maybe next year!

Breakfast was awesome. We started off with fresh blueberry muffins and croissants, followed by yogurt parfaits. Nolan was quite the fan. I had an open faced turkey and avacado omelet served with fresh fruit and red skinned baby potatoes. I shared my pineapple with Noli ; )

Baby Mozart

Last night Nolan made his way over to our neighbors. I think Charlie Brown's Christmas sparked an interest. So here hear, you have it......
Our very own Baby Mozart !!!!

Bad Blogger

I did not blog one time the whole month of November......... Bad Blogger. I kept meaning to update everyone on Nolan's accomplishments & share sweet stories about him, but never got to it. I will do much better in December. Speaking of December, we've had fun decorating the house and getting in the Christmas Spirit. We went to see the WildLights at the Columbus Zoo Friday Night. Unusually warm weather for December so it was perfect. We packed the running stroller with blankets and on our way we went. We heard, "Oohhh LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK", apporox 125,622 times as he pointed to every light, decoration & Zoo Visitor that evening !!! We giggled every time too. His little tiny voice is so sweet. It is a combination of "Loooooooooook", "Ooohhh  Looooooook", or "Whoooooaa Looooooooook".

Saturday evening we went out to celebrate Nick's Birthday so Nolan got to hang with Sam. They played "lox" AKA blocks all night. Another new favorite of Nolan's. He will build tower after tower after tower. Though I am not allowed to help build, he does want my participation in the  block color game. He holds up every block and you have to share it's color. His favorites: "Lello" & "Porpil". He's getting pretty good ; )

Since we've finished the basement (pics to follow) he's been loving his playroom. The twin boys 2 doors down came to play the other night. I had to laugh because Nolan acted really proud and excited to show off his own space. The 3 boys played for quite awhile in his playroom.

It's hard to believe that we'll be celebrating Nolan's 2nd Christmas this year. He loves the lights & tree, and will sure be fun to watch open presents, but I think next year will really be "the year".

(my favorite ornament from Baby's 1st Christmas)

We have a busy month in front of us, but I look forward to sharing pictures and laughs of our fun filled Holiday Month : ) Nothing like seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child!

Cheers,
Michelle

Half Birthday

Happy 18 Months Noli Bean !!!!! Can not believe you are already a year and a half old !!!! That is 547 days we've been blessed to have you in our lives !!!

You are turning into quite the character. You make us giggle a minimum of 20 times a day! And your laugh..... BEST ever. So infectious : ) You really get going when you and Daddy wrestle. BOOOM you say as you try to tackle him !!!

You are a little sponge too..... mimicking every word and move we make. You said your first sentence over the weekend too, "My Ball". I'll take it !!! New additions to your growing vocabulary list: Turtle, Purple, Yellow, Pink, Roscoe (Rah-Rah), Shoes, More, Thank You.

You are quite lovey at this fragile age of 18 months. You give the best bedtime kisses and forehead nuzzles. Evey once in awhile, you pat/rub my back when I have you on my hip. It make me heart smile - Thank You : )

You are a little strange at this fragile age as well. The other night we tucked you in with a wooden spoon, bath towel and baby blanket. You were persistent on having them in bed with you. When I came back in to remove the spoon, you had a death grip on it.... Like you knew I'd be back in !!! Silly Baby!

We've had beautiful fall weather lately. We took you to Leed's Pumpkin Farm. What a blast. You fed the goats and pet the pigs. Went on a hay ride and banana car ride. Played on the slides and the haystacks. You ran and giggled and loved every minute of it. And we loved watching you!

A little of this, a little of that.....

We have been extra busy the last two weeks. What a great beginning to Fall. We kicked it off with an End of the Summer Barbecue with our neighborhood. Nick & I are so fortunate to have such wonderful, young neighbors with young children. There are 15 children total in the 12 houses : ) The kids had a blast at the cook out. And were totally loving the bounce house our neighbors blew up!

We had a nice visit with Grammie, Papa & their dogs. Nolan LOVES Georgia. She is pretty fond of him, herself. Hilarious to hear him say her name... I will try to capture it on video soon. He thinks he is big stuff when Grammie lets him walk her:

We've also had a visit to the Dr.'s office. Tis the season.... Nolan had a bad cough & cold so I wanted to make sure there was no ear infection since he is prone & had been tugging at his ears. SURPRISE: Looks like we have molars coming in! Our pediatrician said it is tough for the little ones to decipher between ear pain and mouth pain! Hence the ear tugging. Anyhow, we spent a couple days cooped up inside, which was two days too long..... Evidence below:

Finally feeling better, we got outside for some batting practice. (Nick was so proud!)

And a tractor ride! Well not a real ride but he def. enjoyed pretending that he was moving : )

Summer flew by way too fast! So hard to believe that Nolan will be a year & a half next month!!! He is getting such a personality. So smart too. He is starting to understand more & more.

"Nolan, go show Daddy"
"Go put this in the trash Nolan"
"Get me your shoes and we'll go outside"

He amazes me everyday : )

Potty Time ?!

Nolan will only be 17 months is a few weeks, but has been showing signs that he is interested in potty training! Like, an interest in the bathroom habits of others! Whether it be with me & Nick, or the kids at Meme's, he's become quite curious. In fact, when I picked him up on Friday, Meme said "Hey Nolan, Do you have to go to the Potty?!" He quickly lost focus in his toys, shot up, picked up potty seat, put it on the toilet and climbed on up. I was so amazed!

Check him out:

He has also become aware of his bodily functions. It is no longer JUST happening, he KNOWS it's happening. My lil guy is also staying dryer longer, which illustrates bladder control.

I don't want to rush anything as I've heard that if your child is not ready to potty train it will not happen, or they will lose interest and the process becomes long, drawn out & frustrating. BUT I also have a girlfriend that potty trained her son at 18 months!

So here we go..... Wish us luck as we venture into this potty training thing. Maybe Nolan's New Car Potty Seat and Step Stool with be a plus!

Mr. Clean

I am guessing Nolan will not always enjoy his chores..... What a bummer!
